Charles II Oak Linen-Press

Lovely dark oak 3-drawer linen press. The ornamentation consists of geometric moulding and outer beadwork which is so typical of Charles' reign. It probably dates from 1670 rather than 1680. The false fronted non-opening top drawer suggests that at some point in time the press was altered. The lower 3 drawers open. The original handles were replaced with brass handles and the original "Bun Feet" were replaced with "Bracket Feet" which were popular during the 18th Century. Measurements: Height: 33.25" (84.455) Lenght: 36" (91.44) Depth: 21.5" (54.61) The piece currently sits on a wooden frame with castors to make it easier to move.
