The Iron Cross is a big (16.3 HH) scopey horse, with a wonderful temperament to boot. He has a smashing topline, good limbs and a great attitude. He is a super mover, has a great personality and oozes quality. Inisfree The Iron Cross also exhibits all the qualities of a ‘true to form’ Irish Draught Horse. He is bred from a line of Gold Merit horses including: Holycross, Inisfree The Holygrail and Miss Ginger Dick. We believe in time, he will achieve a gold merit too. So far in his early breading years, Inisfree The Iron Cross has sired a number of champions: Drumgowla Ruby Palace: All Ireland Irish Draught 2 year old champion in Limerick 2023 and the All Ireland Yearling Irish Draught Champion in Roscommon in 2022. She was also Champion Yearling Filly at the Irish Draught National show in Punchestown (2022) and then went on to stand Reserve Champion Young Stock the same year. He also sired Drumgowla Holly who won the All Ireland Yearling Irish Draught Championship in Roscommon this year. Another daughter, Gortfadda Diamond was the Champion Filly Foal in the All Ireland Filly Foal Championship in Ballinalsoe in 2021. This fantastic filly foal was also part of the mare and foal combination that were Reserve Champions in the Leitrim Breeders Championship (2021). She also stood second in the 2 year old all Ireland in Limerick this year. The Iron Cross himself was the Champion Foal in the Irish Draught Colt Foal Championship in Ballinasloe (2014). He comes from a very successful bloodline being full brother to Inisfree Grey Maiden (Class 1, Gold Merit) who has been a very worthy champion in the show ring from a young age. Inisfree Grey Maiden was Overall Mare Champion at the National Show Punchestown (2022), Mare of The Future Champion, National Show Punchestown (2022), overall Supreme Champion, National Show Punchestown (2021), Yearling All Ireland Champion, Roscommon (2019) and second in the Irish Draught Filly Foal final (2018).
