MacGregor 26C “Classic” is known for ease of launch, ease of towing, ease of rigging, reasonable sailing characteristics, good cabin accommodation. There are two versions of this boat the 26S (swing keel) and 26D (dagger board). The dagger board is not an option if you would be sailing over sandbanks. This boat has been adopted so you can release and lower the swing keel from the deck and not have to go below. It is suitable for costal sailing, inland lakes and canals because you can drop the mast while on route. It comes with an 8HP Yamaha long shaft engine, a solid trailer which is in reasonable condition, last towed from Courtown to Blessington over the Wicklow gap and was solid on the road. The cushions are in very good condition always stored off the boat. It is a lot of boat with great options depending on your requirements and can be stored at home so no mooring fees. A survey was carried out in 2022 conclusion “This vessel is well prepared for the current sailing season”. The hull is copper coated to prevent barnacles attaching. They generally sell around the 9k euro mark but I will accept a reasonable offer. Reason for selling is the same as the previous owner, “family have flown the nest”.
