Description

This is an antique cast iron bull's head can opener. The design, featuring a bull's head with a spike and blade and a tail forming the handle, was a common type of can opener for around 60 years. It was widely used by soldiers to open canned meat rations (known as 'Bully Beef') during conflicts like the American Civil War, Boer War, and World War I. Examples with a full cast iron handle, as seen here, typically date from after 1880. Postage €10 anywhere in Ireland
