Antique J.Muirhead & Sons

Beautiful large antique-style figural mantel clock marked J. Muirhead & Sons – Paris & Glasgow on the dial. A very striking decorative piece featuring a large classical female figure alongside a cherub/child figure, surrounding the central clock. The case has a bronze/bronzed finish and sits on an ornate pale marble/stone-style base. The clock has clearly been stored for a long period and is being sold exactly as found. I have deliberately not cleaned or polished it, as I don’t want to risk damaging the aged finish, dial or figures. There is dust/cobwebbing and general age-related wear as shown in the photographs. The original clock mechanism appears to have been replaced or converted to a battery-operated movement at some point, so I am not selling it as having its original mechanical movement. Please see the photographs of the rear/interior. The dial retains the J. Muirhead & Sons / Paris & Glasgow marking, although there is considerable age-related fading and wear to the Roman numerals and lettering. An unusual and impressive display piece that would suit an antique interior, period home, collector or restoration project. Condition: Antique/used condition with age-related wear, fading, marks and dust. Movement appears to have been replaced/converted. Sold as photographed. Asking 250– ONO.
