Antique Victorian Brass Peacock Fireplace Screen

Overview: Add a touch of authentic late 19th-century elegance to your hearth with this rare and highly sought-after Victorian brass "peacock fan" fireplace screen. Featuring the exquisite, highly collectible Neoclassical Cameo Medallion design, this genuine antique serves as a stunning decorative centerpiece when your fireplace is not in use. Unlike more common mid-century reproductions, this piece boasts the heavy, intricate sand-cast detailing characteristic of the late Victorian to early Edwardian era (circa 1890–1910). Design Details: * The Cameo Medallion: The central frame features a gorgeous, identical double-sided relief profile portrait of a classical woman surrounded by draped ribbons and bows. * The Frame & Base: Features a stylized, ornate open handle at the top and a heavy, geometrically pierced cast-brass base that provides excellent stability. * The Fan Blades: Composed of 9 intricate, perforated filigree brass blades that expand seamlessly into a beautiful peacock-tail fan shape. Condition Report: * Patina: Beautiful, rich, authentic antique patina throughout. The brass has aged naturally over the last 120+ years; it has intentionally not been polished with harsh chemical cleaners to fully preserve its historic character and value. * Mechanism: The filigree fan blades expand smoothly and fold away evenly without sticking. * Note on Clasps: One of the side retention clasps is missing at the base. One clasp remains fully intact and functional, allowing the screen to hold together when closed. This minor wear is consistent with its age and use, and has been factored into the pricing. * Markings: No export or maker stamps present, which is typical for early European manufacturing prior to standard 20th-century export laws. Approximate Dimensions: (Tip: Measure your screen and insert the dimensions here!) * Height (fully open/closed): [Insert Height] inches / 69 cms * Width (fully expanded): 97 cms * Depth (at base): 16 cms Postage at buyers cost.
