Description
Late Victorian or early Edwardian display cabinet or sideboard, most likely dating from around 1890–1910. It features strong Art Nouveau influences, which became fashionable toward the end of the 19th century. 🪞 Description Type: Victorian/Edwardian Art Nouveau display cabinet or credenza with mirror back. Period: Circa 1890–1910 Wood: Likely mahogany or possibly rosewood veneer, finished in a rich dark polish typical of the period. Features: Bevelled mirrors at the top and sides (often silvered, showing some age spotting, which is normal and desirable). Ornate fretwork and carving, with scrolling floral motifs characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. Glazed doors with decorative wooden tracery, used for displaying fine china, glassware, or curios. Cabriole legs with carved knees and scroll feet. Shaped shelves and curved side doors, a sign of quality craftsmanship. Brass handles and locks. Last refurbishment 2018 This has been in my mother's family for over 75 years. Originally purchased from an antique dealer on Batchelors Walk 1958. Viewings to be arranged directly with me.
