Description
Original 1950s black enameled Kaiser Idell desk lamp by Christian Dell, model ‘6782’ with a curved pivoting brass arm and ball joint mechanism, which allows the shade to be rotated and tilted. This timeless desk lamp, sat on green baize, is in very good period condition, with light patina to the brass arm and light scratches to the shade and base – please see images. Professionally rewired with antique style 3-core braided flex, complete with a good push-button switch. Christian Dell (1893-1974) was a German silversmith and designer. From 1922-25 he worked as a foreman at the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he was the man behind a highly innovative and pioneering style of design. By 1926 Dell was sketching lighting designs for the lamp factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co. and joined the Frankfurt art school until 1933 when Walter Gropius offered him a job in the United States, however, Dell decided to remain in Germany. The term "idell" is a reference to the word ‘idea’ and his last name, ‘Dell’ Price is not negotiable. Post 10
