Description
A lovely pair of antique Victorian Bisque figurines of a woman and man. The figurines are made of heavy bisque porcelain and are well modeled with excellent attention to detail and have hand painted features. The woman is holding a pug dog which was a fashion statement in Victorian times for court/ opera appearances. The man is holding a bottle in his right hand, his left hand has a hole in it which was most likely for a missing walking stick. They are not marked but are German or French in origin. They are in the style of Gebruder Heubach. The figurines stand 7.25 " high by 2.25" wide at the base. With the exception of a 2" hairline at the bottom centre back of the woman figure, both figures are in exceptional good condition , no cracks or repairs. They are both marked by a hand drawn red figure 43. They should have had glasses but do not anymore. There are drilled holes in the face for glasses to insert. (Top)
