Rare Flagon

This is a vintage glazed stoneware whisky pot produced by the Caledonian Pottery Co. in Rutherglen, Scotland.  The impressed mark indicates it was made by the Caledonian Pottery Co., which operated in Rutherglen from 1872 until its liquidation in 1897.  Stoneware jars like this were used for the storage and transportation of whisky in the 19th and 20th centuries.  The number "2" in the mark typically indicates the capacity of the pot, likely 2 imperial Thank you for looking and see all my other items for sale
