Stabiliser Cattle

Worked for 19s Stabiliser-cross cows and heifer scanned in calf, weanlings and stores — Co. Meath If you’re serious about suckler farming, Stabilisers are well worth a look. I’ve been breeding them at Grangeboyne for about six years. What I’m after is a moderate-sized cow that calves easily, has the milk to rear her calf and does well on grass. I want a calf that’s small at birth, gets up and going quickly and grows well from there. This is a good chance to buy a few and see how they work in your own herd. You can see four of the cows alongside the calves they’ve reared and judge them for yourself. See how they calve down in the spring, and if they suit your farm, come back to me for heifers next year and build your herd from there. SEVEN MATURE COWS AND ONE FIRST-CALVING HEIFER The seven cows are approximately six and a half years old and will turn seven in spring 2027. Each has had five recorded calvings. Estimated around 700 kg and upwards. The heifer is 20 months old and due her first calf. All eight are scanned in calf. Five are due in February, including the heifer, two in March and one in early April. Asking €2,950 each, with up to €3,100 for the best February calver. FOUR STABILISER-CROSS WEANLINGS Three bulls and one heifer, around 8–9 months old, with estimated weights around 300–400 kg. All four are by Crebilly Wombat, our pedigree Stabiliser bull, rated 5 stars within breed on the Terminal Index. Wombat is pictured for reference as the sire. Bull 40669 — 4-star Terminal within breed — €1,650. Bull 30668 — 4-star Terminal within breed — €1,550. Bull 40685 — 5-star Terminal within breed — €1,350. Heifer 10666 — 4-star Replacement — €1,600.
