Liveaboard Canal Barge Widebeam Narrowboat

Dobhar-Chù is a ready to move onto liveaboard Irish built wide beam barge, which is currently moored in Castleknock. We spent 18 months looking at other boats before finding Dobhar-Chù. It is 37 feet long and 10 feet wide. We found that it had far more usuable interior space than other larger boats,one of its best features is the 6ft 8" internal ceiling height, which makes the interior very spacious. We have lived comfortably on board for the last 2.5 years. The wheelhouse has a fold out table and seating. Down the steps, there is a small bathroom with an electric toilet,a shower, and a sink. The main living area is an open plan layout with a generous kitchen with a small fridge. The stove is opposite a two-seater couch. There is a double bed in the bow with wall mounted storage on either side, along with under bed storage. The boat was repainted in the summer of 2022. A full hull thickness survey was completed in June 2022, which found the hull was in great condition. When we purchased the boat, we stripped the interior flooring and replaced everything with 18mm ply. We then fitted new flooring and repainted all of the interior. The solar system is made up of four 580w solar panels with a Victron MPPT controller, and a 480Ah Fogstar lithium battery, which was purchased for €1300 in 2024. A 2500w sterling inverter charger provides power to 3 pin plugs throughout. The lights are LED, and there are USB and “cigarette lighter” chargers in the wheelhouse and bow. The engine is a ford D series, with an 80l fuel tank. Heating is via the Morso squirrel stove. A Webasto diesel heater also heats the radiators in wheelhouse, towel rail in the bathroom, and a radiator by the bed. We have loved every minute of living aboard Dobhar-Chù. We have enjoyed plenty of trips to Leixlip, Maynooth, and Phisborough over the years. - Canal permit €130/year - Coal €500/year -Gas for cooking €100/year. - Insurance €400/year
