Ordered by a Mr. French in May 1989 through Mercedes Monchengladbach and collected in person from the Mercedes factory at Sindelfingen in November 1989, the car was then driven back to the UK. The car was ordered in anthracite grey metallic over beige with an automatic transmission, M103 3.0l 6 cylinder engine and many optional extras at a total cost of £27,358, equivalent to over £75,000 today. What makes this Mercedes unique is all of the documentation is still with the car; this includes the original order sheet and correspondence from Mercedes Monchengladbach, certificate of sale from Sindelfingen, German temporary licence plates and registration documents, temporary insurance forms, receipt for first tank of fuel from the factory, German and UK customs forms, correspondence with Mercedes UK and homologation certificate, and all service records and invoices. The record keeping for this car is exceptional and is likely due to the fact it was loved by one family for 30 years. Overall the car presents extremely well for its age. There is no structural or cosmetic rust and mechanically it runs and drives very well. The interior has very few signs of wear, carpets, interior trim and seat bolsters are very fresh looking.
