The G Wagen W463 was converted 2 years ago by a renowned UK specialist. The base vehicle was an automatic with 100,000 recorded miles. It took me 6 years to gather all the necessary parts for this build, which is now classified by the DVLA as a 2.9 Mercedes G wagen Diesel. The vehicle features a six-speed CLK gearbox and an OM662 engine that was palletised from stock; it has only just been run in with 9,000 miles on it. Additionally, it has a refurbished pump with upgraded (but sensible) elements, delivering approximately 150bhp whilst maintaining excellent fuel efficiency. This is a rare RHD professional G Wagen, making it a unique build tailored to my needs. It comes equipped with full nine-seater leather seats, truck mirrors, and the correct professional wheels and tyres. A specially sourced lightweight clutch was also installed to accommodate my bad knees. I had never considered selling until my knees worsened to the point where I required an automatic transmission. The build process took over 18 months and was costly, as the chassis was stripped back and resprayed, then fully treated with clear wax oil. You will be hard-pressed to find another build like this. I currently have it insured through a specialist company for a reasonable £260 a year. The G Wagen returns 27 mpg and keeps up effortlessly with motorway traffic.
