This is because the Donskoy's hairless gene is dominant, while the Canadian Sphynx's is recessive. A cat needs two copies of the recessive Sphynx gene to be hairless, and having one dominant Donskoy gene will result in a coated cat, even if the other parent is a Sphynx.
