Antique sword - French officers

Beautiful French Sabre/Sword for Infantry officers - model 1845 - from late XIX Century. Sword is 94 cm total length, with a 78 cm long slightly curved steel blade, a horn grip and an a beautifully decorated brass guard and pommel. The blade is in very good conditions, there are just a few darker spots and some light pitting but no active rust. the bladed is also really very marked - the spine has the manufacturer signature, as was custom for french swords of the XIX Century (this one reads Manufacture de Chatellerault - part of the inscription is damaged and the year is not readable), and there's a sets of well visible controllers' stamps at the base of the blade, which help dating this to around 1850. The brass guard is intact with just few minor scratches as you'd expect on an original antique, there are no defects or ruptures to the delicate floral design, and the brass has been gently polished to bring back its original shine. The horn grip is in very good conditions, however the brass wire wrapped around it is damaged and loose, as you can see from pictures. Comes in its original leather scabbard with brass fittings, which is also in good conditions. The blade struggles somewhat to fully fit in the scabbard (unless forced strongly) a very nice 100% original piece, well marked and very collectible - ideal for anyone interested in militaria - but also makes a great decoration piece!
