Hydrangea French Can Can doing well in 2nd summer in pot

Hydrangea French Can Can bought as a new plant in Johnstown Garden Centre in March 2025 Macrophylla v. Serrata Hybrid. This is a small variety of Hydrangea, as hydrangeas go. It starts to flower with flowerlets on the outside which dance in the wind, thus it is called Can Can, after the dance of that name. It then flowers more like a macrophylla after that, as you can see in the second photo from last summer. It is at the first stage now and the centre buds are getting ready to flower. The leaves have a burnished brown/burgundy in spring and autumn and green when in full flower in summer. It had 3 flushes of blooms last year after I cut them off when they went off. I pruned it lightly in mid-February back to the next set of buds. It can range in colour from salmon pink to mauve with several versions of pink in between including pink and white, depending on soil type and food given. It is doing well, but I have moved apartment to where my patio container garden has full exposure to the West and South only, and this plant is not going to be able for full afternoon and early evening sun from South and West. It needs morning sun from the East and shade in the afternoon and evening, so I have to pass it on. It is in a high quality green pot which is 40cm square externally and 33cm tall. This hydrangea will need to move up from this after this flowering season and it’s a very useful pot for something else.
