For decades—dating back to the late 1960s and running heavily through the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s—Polaris had a long-standing partnership with Fuji Heavy Industries (which later changed its corporate name to Subaru Corporation). Fuji built many of those engines through its Robin engine subsidiary (often referred to as Fuji-Robin engines). They supplied the powerplants for a massive share of Polaris snowmobiles and utility ATVs—including iconic powerplants like the 335, 400, and 500 liquid-cooled and air-cooled single/twin mills found in machines ranging from older Trail Blazers to Sportsman and Big Boss 500 6x6 platforms.
