Description
Made in March 1970, this is the professional-quality "Soloist" model with a heavy cast arch-top tone ring, solid mahogany neck, wide mahogany resonator, and new Remo banjo head. Newly fitted with "Clareen" Phosphor Bronze Tenor Banjo Strings. Like all Framus banjos, the action height (of the strings above the fretboard) can be easily adjusted by turning a hex-key screw inside the pot. When it arrived to me a few years ago (in the post from the Unied States) very poorly packaged for the weight of it, the heel of the neck was damaged (it's a potentially weak spot on a mahogany neck). I glued it back together with fresh glue, added the Celtic-design plate held by two 1 1/4" screws, and put the largest-possible washer on the neck-attachment screw - all to stabilise/reinforce it - it's stronger now than it ever was before!
