HISTORY MZ were the king of 2 stroke bikes. Made in East Germany their bikes were superbly built and fast. They took over and improved on the legacy created by DKW after WW2. The DKW 125 was so good the design was given to Harley Davidson and Bantam after WW2. MZ bikes reigned supreme in world racing during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. In 1961 their top rider Ernst Degner defected to Japan and with the know how he provided, enabled Suzuki to win their first ever world championship the following year. Honda spent millions trying to create 4 stroke bikes that could compete with MZ and he couldn’t do it. Their bikes used a lot of aluminium parts , which kept weight down yet increased strength. The detail on this bike and build quality needs to be seen to be appreciated. It has also been superbly painted. The asking price doesn’t justify the parts cost alone.
