This 1987 E30 M3 has been given what’s been dubbed the ‘Competition Pack’ and the result is a very fast, very competent and very mean looking car that can be used on the road, track or a variety of motorsport events. Previously owned by Jay Kay of Jamiroquai who piloted the car on the 2020 Rally Clasico in Mallorca, the car was prepared and supplied by UK firm Hero Motor Company who carried out the bulk of the upgrades. Outside there are staggered BBS 17” wheels, Evo 2 front spoiler and Sport Evo rear spoiler, carbon wing mirrors and a DTM style exhaust. The lowered stance is thanks to rally spec suspension and adjustable negative camber arms. Inside is where things are taken up another notch. A full Safety Devices FIA spec roll cage, black leather/alcantara Recaro seats, Schroth Racing 6-point harnesses, removable Momo steering wheel, Monit timing system and multiple fire extinguishers are the order of the day, along with some additional ancillary gauges to keep an eye on the vitals of the mega engine up front. The modified 2.5 260bhp unit with slide-throttle and carbon fibre air intake is absolutely intoxicating with a distinctive sound and sublime performance. Coupled with a short-shift gear linkage, shortened diff ratio, larger AP Racing brakes, short ratio steering rack, adjustable anti-roll bars and competition suspension, this E30 M3 is simply sensational to drive and is surprisingly tractable and comfortable on the road.
