This vehicle is up for unreserved auction on Car and Classic. 1970 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe Colour 834 – Moss Green Metallic with 219 Cognac Leather Interior This is a highly sought after factory righthand drive, moss green, floor shift auto with cognac interior leather 1970 280 SE Mercedes 3.5 Coupe is complete and original. The car spent the first 31 years of its life in single ownership before two subsequent owners between 2001 and 2004, when it was imported from the UK to Ireland. It was first registered in Ireland in July 2004 and subsequently lapsed in October 2008. I have owned the vehicle for the last two years and it is currently dry stored in the Republic of Ireland. While the car is straight, mostly complete and runs, it requires significant rust repairs. The inner sills are gone, so is the floor plan and reinforcement over the differential, the boot is non serviceable as well as the wheel wells, rear boot sills and the front chassis rails will need work, along with the boot and bonnet. The rest of the vehicle – guards, doors, roof and rear quarters are generally in good condition. The engine ran and the car drove when purchased, but I have not attempted to start it for over a year. To be clear, this vehicle will need significant rust repairs, while the exterior facing coachwork is generally good, the underneath of the car will need significant structural work.
