Volkswagen Golf GTI 1983

Mk1 Golf GTi 1983 Extensive history dating back 40 years – original GTi – was owned by one of the founding members of VW Club GTI Scotland – previously had a 16V KR engine before the newer (1995) ABF engine was installed. The gearbox and linkage (5 speed) is from a mk1 Audi TT - The BHP was tested a few years back and was in the region of 140BHP with 180Nm Torque. Trackslag full stainless exhaust fitted and upgraded front vented brake disks and rotors and upper strut brace installed on front and rear axel – also has a lower front strut brace. Suspension was overhauled back in 2018 with new poly bush wishbone bushings and new top mounts, the struts are eibach inserts and H&R springs lowered about 20mm from standard. Wheels are 15’ Melbers with polished dish and continental tires. Front leather seats from a mk2 Audi TT, rear seats from a mk2 scirocco. The car has been in storage for the past 3 years (off the road) it Runs and Drives, Body work is in need of some attention, could do with a respray – full restoration last carried out in 2012.
