Description
A rare opportunity to own a unique piece of functioning art! The Hiawatha is designed in the tradition of Native American canoes and is a general purpose recreational, two-seat wood-strip canoe that is fast and responsive. The canoe was hand built by the same team who are currently building the Helen Blake replica lifeboat in Fethard On Sea Wexford using the same techniques. The Hiawatha is constructed from Western Red Cedar, Sapele, Ash, Maple and Walnut. It is then coated with fibreglass, epoxy resin and UV-resistant varnish. At 15 feet 3 inches in length, it is accompanied by two matching paddles with which were hand crafted from Cherry wood, Sapele and Ash. This beautiful design and connection to local history would make an ideal centrepiece display or as a beautiful traditional paddling canoe. All funds raised from the sale of the canoe will be used to help fund the construction of the Helen Blake replica lifeboat. See www.thehelenblake.com and www.facebook.com/HelenBlakeReplicaProject
