Took my bike up to their workshop for repairs/servicing/tyres etc. Probably the very best experience I have ever had in the motor trade, workshop desk staff were excellent, on the phone before I went there, and on my arrival. Gave me a very fair quote for all work to be carried out. Gave me a courtesy bike while mine was there, and all work carried out first class. So to all at Phillip Mc Callens a very big THANK YOU. I would recommend them to anyone. I wish all businesses were ran like theirs.

Shopped around but stopped when I went to Phillip McCallen’s. An honest, professional customer experience that separated this dealership from the others. Thoroughly recommended for price, professionalism and peace of mind motoring.

2008 ktm 990sm with 25k miles left in for service work and hasn't worked right since. Bought the bike privately and checked the recent service paperwork which shows work carried out by these guys so I decided to keep using them thinking they knew the bike and it's history. Started having a few problems like water pump leaking, got that replaced only to find the oil was still contaminated and bike hadn't been flushed out properly.  Next I left it in for valve clearance adjustment, 5 weeks later I get a call to say it's ready. Trailered it home and tried to start it, non runner and lights on dash with error codes.. brought it back and they had it for another few weeks. They rang to say it was ready so I trailered it home again, tried to start at home and it rode for about 5 minutes and died. Bike was taken back again where Philip took it for a ride and came back pushing it saying it's out of fuel. I know it wasn't because I had at least 20 miles left before light comes on. After fueling it still didn't start. Bad battery  he said... I felt so embarrassed at this stage, was I really this stupid? Anyway , I was told to leave it with them again... after countless phone calls to service desk I eventually get someone who says its ready and I just have to pay for a new battery,  no labour charge after 4 weeks of diagnosis?? Trailered it home again and take it for a ride and same trouble, bike dies after 5 minutes and struggling to restart. I pop the seat to find my old battery still connected with the cables loosened. They didn't even change the thing but billed me for it.
I returned to get my money back for the battery and they didnt give a toss, dont know what happened there...
Since then I have replaced the "bad" battery with the same results. I found some previous invoices which show they have programmed the ECU to clear fault codes etc so maybe they just hide problems this way.
To top it off, all nuts and bolts that would have been removed to carry out the work above have been over tightened well outside there torque settings, possibly out of badness, resulting in me having to drill bolts out and replace them... some pathetic, sad individual, with nothing better to do for a laugh at my expense. Did you really think I wouldn't notice??
The bike has been taken to a different mechanic who carried out dognostics and has informed me the ECU has been previously flashed incorrectly which has sent wrong signals to my engine causing significant damage to the rear cylinder, piston and rings. The valve clearance hasn't been done properly with the valves being too tight, damaging valves and cam and also timing trouble.
Estimate to repair is currently £2-3k or an engine swap.
Completely gutted and would advise anyone to do their homework before trusting these so called mechanics with your machine. My £4k bike with over £1k service work is now scrap with less then 2k miles use in my ownership.

Ist experience; called with my brother and son to look at a 1290 Superduke r. Salesman approached (English guy) I expressed interest and asked if there was any leeway on price? He pointed to the price and said that's the price of her!
I asked if I were to purchase could they fit a tail tidy and/or a tank protector. After a scoff or two he said that's the price of the bike and went on to say if you went into Tesco do you think you could bargain with the girl on the till! At this point and after a few similar remarks I said, funny if you are making a direct comparison with Tesco, I didn't notice any 2 for1 offers or 4 packs when I came through the door! We left immediately and called to Hursts..here I bought a year old Superduke r with every conceivable Power Part with 71 miles on the clock...what a contrast on jow we were treated.
2nd experience; Hursts serviced the 1290 and following notification from KTM I booked into Mc Callens for the recall. At this stage yhe service light had come on and Hursts told me Mc Callens would take it off as they worked through each other. Anyway wouldn't take it off despite the Hurst connection, as if it was a major thing. Hursts were astounded and told me they had just pulled Mc Callen out of a few spots that week.
3rd experience: My brother and I looked suspension settings for two bikes and when we were there I intended looking at a SMT 690. We arrived down at the arranged time only to be asked, did you not get hhe phone call? We checked our phones and neither of us had any call ftom Mc Callens, an obvious lie! I decided not to look at the 690 and subsequently bought a Gasgas of another dealer.
3rd experience: Another recall came from KTM and after a few reminders I bit ghe bullet and booked an appointment. On arrival I was told there was no record of my appointment! Needless to say I wasn't pleased! I relayed all my past experiences and they did eventually say they would do the recall. A few hours later this was complete but on yhe way home the bike went into limp mode! I called and they said I would have to get the bike down to them (each journey 29 miles) After a few exchanges they lifted ghe bike and told me this was the second instance due to a faulty computer! Anyway they wouldn't leave the bike back even if it wasn't my fault but their own given the computer problem I was told about.
That's my review, I have 9 bikes bought from different dealers and can summarise beyond saying, I don't like being lied to and would not listen to any flannel from Mc Callen or his team trying to justify their incompetence. I wouldn't encourage anyone to deal with these people and will leave with this comment. N0 wonder they have lost the Triumph and KTM dealerships...Kwak next
