In 1956 John and Josephine Kelleher took over the running of Salthill Service Station from Esso Ireland with two pumps and a hut. Over the coming years, they extended it to a workshop and a car accessory shop until it grew to a three bay garage.

In 1974 they were appointed the second Volvo dealer in Ireland and in 1985 were appointed Suzuki dealer for Galway City and County, afterwards the premises was extended to a new workshop facility and showrooms. In 1993 the existing site was extensively developed into a modern pump layout with the addition of a 24-hour shop, new supermarket and carwash.

In 2005 we made a bold decision to move from Esso to Texaco and in 2009 we re-developed the shop to a modern XL Stop & Shop.

After three and a half years waiting for planning permission it finally came through in 2009 and hopefully sometime in the future when the economy improves the re-development to a very modern forecourt and large supermarket, new offices, workshops and extensive showroom will take place. Model of the new bulding can be seen here

After the sad passing of John Kelleher in Febuary 2014 The Business passed to Sean Kelleher the Second Generation.

We start 2016 with great optimism and are glad to say we employ 25 staff.

This year we celebrate our 60 th Birthday "Happy Birthday"

Great service - my son bought a car there. Sean knows his stuff and extremely helpful. A1 customer service.

I had a very positive experience purchasing my car. Sean was professional, friendly and made the whole process seamless from start to finish. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and highly recommend Kellehers, Salthill if you want great service and great value.

Thank you John Kelleher Salthill. You helped me to find the perfect car and made the buying process quick, smooth and hassle-free. Thank you for taking time to explain everything clearly, answer all my questions with patience and honesty. Highly recommend

I recommend John Kelleher & Sean, professionals. Always very helpful. Quick and efficient advice. Cars always reliable.

My son was interested in an Audi A3. One was here. I rang up and told belt and pump was done. Travelled over 3hrs to Salthill to see it. Planned to take home. Opened bonnet, and saw coolant on sump guard. Drove out, warning came on, check coolant. Dripping out. Had to top up with water to get back. He failed to find receipt for belt, obviously not done. Just wanted sold as seen, no comeback. Very disappointed son, but good learning to trust no one.
