I had my car serviced at Lyons of Limerick on Tuesday 10th of Feb. As always the staff were very pleasant to deal with. All issues that were possible to deal with immediately were looked after.  Issues that needed time or parts etc ordered were explained to me. I got a 2 follow up calls the next day.

We dealt with Sean from day one, he was super friendly and not a bit pushy. We had his complete attention even though it was a second hand car we were looking for. We purchased a 241 Ford Puma. Sean was a pure diamond I would highly recommend him.

Excellent service, was contacted before any extra work was carried out, did not have to wait in garage dropped home and picked up when my car was ready.

AVOID!

I got a full service with them. Less than a week later I did my NCT and got a DANGEROUS VEHICLE sticker slapped onto my car. Lyon’s of Limerick didn't even bother to check for deformation of tyres during their “comprehensive” health check, something the NCT tester said should’ve been seen as soon as the car was hoisted up, all they cared about was my thread depth.

To fail an NCT a week later after dropping €450 on a 9 year old Ford with a main dealer is an absolute kick in the teeth, I’d sooner recommend taking a chance with a cowboy mechanic.

They keep no track record of when you last went to them so expect them to try and give you a “full service” every single year. That means if they changed your spark plugs last year, they will try and change them again.

On top of that, they claim they will give you a car wash and breakdown assistance. I got no car wash and had to ring twice for the breakdown assistance number which the service manager still has not provided me to this day.

For the extreme premium they charge I would highly recommend spending your money elsewhere. I feel like most of the good reviews you see online have to be fake with this kind of service.

Highly recommend David, who we met on Saturday. Other dealers closer but came across brisk when we called; David a natural, easy to talk to and helpful. Whether your budget is big or small, he shows the same civility to everyone. We even spotted a car that had arrived in, and once the mechanic sorts a few small things, we’ll be going ahead with it  and when our budget is larger, we’ll return to Shiels first.

Absolutely recommend Sheils to anyone looking for a new car! Had the pleasure of dealing with Dave Hurley who was so informative, helpful and honest. He made the whole process so easy for us and gave great objective advice. A total gentleman! Will definitely go back there in the future

Took my Ford into the service department with a concern about the brakes, the staff said they tested the brakes and they worked fine!! I’ve been worried about the brakes for years and finally found an independent contractor out in Kilkishen Clare to test the brakes today, Roman auto repairs, he is so concerned for my safety that he will not allow the jeep to go on the road! He is calling Ford head service department in Dublin tomorrow morning about the issue.

Very incompetent service in Sheils limerick, my jeep has been very dangerous and a high safety risk for many years. Ford Ireland will be hearing of this issue now too.

Very poor attitude,
Be wary of the salesmen in Limerick.
Was purchasing a car back on January, very poor attitude by one individual, for privacy of the individual, Mr R.
He was pleasant at first and then he turned when a deal goes naturally fizzles out.
I bought the car in Shiels in Ennis, I personally found them lovely.

Made an appointment in autumn. Turned up at the specific day/time. There was no sales person on the floor (fair enough if was early Monday but still, I'd made an appointment). I walked into an office, guy helped me but didn't bother to get any sales person. He did show me the display model, said I could test drive and then walked off. Maybe he thought I was a time waster (I wasn't, I've since bought a car in the next shop I went to) . I ended up trying to open the boot myself on the display, a different guy waking by saw me struggle and helped. I asked him a question and he goes sorry I'm just a mechanic. I left after that. As a female it's daunting enough buying a car on your own but I'd hoped to have been taken seriously.
